An IndiGo passenger took the internet by storm after he claimed to find a screw in his sandwich on his Bengaluru to Chennai flight. Amidst several incidents of worms and insects being found in food, this incident has raised concerns about aviation food services.
Sharing the images of his ‘sandwich’, a Reddit user @MacaroonI13601 informed that he was served a spinach and corn sandwich on his Bengaluru to Chennai flight on February 1. He left the sandwich untouched during the journey. When he opened the packet after deboarding, he was shocked to find a screw in it.
Following this, he reached out to the airlines and demanded an apology, however, IndiGo argued that his complaint was void as he consumed the food.
“While traveling indigo recently on 01/02/24 from BNG to Chennai I got a screw in my sandwich when I urged for an apology from the airline end they came back with a response that wince consumed it post flight it couldn’t be found legible!!!! #indigo how should I approach this so Indigo can at least respond,” the IndiGo passenger wrote.

Soon after the post went viral, the comment section flooded with shock. A user wrote, “WTF!? If they aren’t responding back properly. You can raise a complaint in consumer court on it! It’s not a daunting process like normal courts. They might ask you to appear for a hearing to ask about your version and they should be present too. And it will be closed at max in 2 hearings!” Another user commented, “Indigo is finding new ways to screw people.”
