Aircraft leasing companies that have leased planes to Go Airlines are offering the planes to rivals such as IndiGo, Air India, and Vistara at attractive rates as the Wadia Group-owned airline awaits the decision from the bankruptcy court over its fate. The court is expected to pass an order on 11 May, and if the insolvency petition is admitted, a six-month moratorium will be triggered on payments by Go, which could be extended by three months. Lessors such as the plane leasing arm of Japan’s Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp, ACG Aircraft Leasing Ireland, SFV Aircraft, and Sky High XCV Leasing Co have petitioned India’s aviation regulator to deregister 45 planes they have leased to Go Airlines and are racing against time to take possession of their aircraft and strike lease deals with other airlines.
