A woman travelling on an IndiGo flight from New Delhi to Mumbai on the morning of December 29 was shocked to find a worm crawling on the vegetarian sandwich that was served on board.
Kushboo Gupta, a dietitian and mindful eating coach, took to her Instagram account to share a video of the sandwich. She said since it was an early morning flight, she opted for a vegetarian sandwich, which was chargeable, while booking her flight. She said she just took one bite and noticed a worm crawling on the bread. Gupta said she informed the flight attendant so she could at least make other passengers aware of the contamination and avoid eating the sandwich or be careful while consuming it.
However, she said the flight attendant did not take her complaint seriously and continued serving the sandwiches to other passengers.
In the caption, Gupta wrote that she would lodge an official complaint soon. Being a public health professional, she said she was surprised that despite being alerted to the issue, the flight attendant continued to serve the sandwiches to other unsuspecting passengers, including children and the elderly. Who would be held responsible if anyone caught an infection, Gupta asked.

“Indigo food is disappointing. They don’t even know what vegan food is even after I had selected that as my meal,” a user commented. “I got food poisoning from eating what they serve and also the food served in airport outlets are the worst unnecessarily expensive and terrible in quality,” said another.
“Issues with Indigo flights have been recurring for quite some time now, speaking from personal experience. Hope these subside soon,” wrote a third.
