Statement by Kenya Airways
Kenya Airways had earlier confirmed the incident where the national carrier noted that the plane landed safely in Kisumu at around 6:36 pm, but it was hit by a bird strike resulting in the plane being temporarily stuck on the runway.
“The aircraft landed safely at Kisumu, however, it was not able to fully exit the runway as the bird strike affected the aircraft’s operating components. Kenya Airways said all passengers and crew on board were safe.
Due to the incident, Kenya Airways promised to provide travel updates on the affected flights.
We are working diligently with the relevant authorities to remove the aircraft and resume normal operations. Passengers of the affected flights will be provided with updated travel information and assistance as required.
