kenya airways kisumu: National carrier Kenya Airways has informed that all passengers and crew on board flight KQ670 are safe after being hit by a bird while landing at Kisumu International Airport.
In a statement on Thursday, May 30, KQ said that the plane was temporarily stuck on the runway after the incident, which took place at around 6:36 pm on Thursday.
The airline revealed that Lane could not fully exit the runway after experiencing mechanical issues due to the bird hit.
“Kenya Airways confirms that on 30 May 2024, at approximately 18:36 hrs, KQ670 had a bird hit while landing at Kisumu International Airport, resulting in the aircraft being temporarily stuck on the runway.
“The aircraft landed safely at Kisumu, however, it was not able to fully exit the runway as the bird strike affected the aircraft’s operating components. All passengers and crew on board are safe.
The airline further indicated that they are working with the relevant authorities to remove the aircraft from the runway and resume normal operations at the airport.
Passengers on affected flights will be provided with up-to-date travel information and assistance as needed, KQ said.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and assure our passengers of their safety and comfort,” KQ said.
