National carrier Kenya Airways has announced the resumption of domestic flights after President Uhuru Kenyatta lifted the cessation of movement in Nairobi, Nakuru, Kajiado, Machakos, and Kiambu counties.

In a statement issued on Saturday, May 1, hours after the head of state eased COVID-19 restrictions, KQ said it would resume business after a difficult period occasioned by the pandemic.
“The airline will fly two times daily to the coastal city of Mombasa and once daily to the lakeside city of Kisumu as it continues to review the option of increasing frequencies as demand picks,” it said.

The struggling airline said it would work closely with the Ministry of Health and Kenya Airports Authority to enforce COVID-19 safety measures and protocols.
“All passengers and airport users are still required to strictly observe the safety measures in place to ensure the safety of all airport users. They are therefore advised to familiarise themselves with health protocols, including wearing face masks throughout the journey and making use of sanitiser stations,” it added.
