Doha, Qatar: Qatar Airways and Ooredoo have officially entered into a strategic collaboration aimed at developing and co-designing an advanced Hybrid Multi-Cloud ecosystem named “Sama.”
This initiative represents a pioneering move within Qatar and the wider region, marking a significant leap in technological advancement.
The name “Sama,” which means sky, resonates not only as a symbol of aspiration but also as a familiar term, shared one of Qatar Airways’ MetaHuman cabin crew. The partnership was formally announced yesterday at The Plaza Doha.
The innovative solution will amalgamate the expertise of globally acclaimed Hyperscalers such as Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud, complemented by the resilience and security of Qatar Airways’ dedicated Private Cloud, and bolstered by leading technology providers including Nutanix, F5, and Cisco.
Commenting on the collaboration, Ooredoo Qatar CEO, Sheikh Ali bin Jabor bin Mohammad Al Thani, stressed the significance of embracing new technologies to redefine connectivity and innovation.

A key aspect of this transformation is the agility it promises, with the Hybrid Multi-Cloud setup offering Qatar Airways the flexibility to allocate workloads based on various factors, including business demands, data security, and latency. By harnessing the capabilities of the Public Cloud, Qatar Airways aims to expedite innovation and deploy new services to enhance customer experience, while maintaining high-performance workloads in its dedicated Private Cloud environment. Ooredoo will facilitate direct links between Qatar Airways’ premises and Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud platforms through its network fabric.
