The bad weather isn’t only hampering the traffic on area roads Wednesday. The remnants of Hurricane Ida are affecting traffic in the sky.
Two flights that were expected to arrive at Harrisburg International Airport in Lower Swatara Township on Wednesday were delayed. The two American Airlines flights are both coming in from Charlotte, North Carolina. Another American Airlines flight that was expected to fly in from Chicago at 11:41 p.m. has been marked as “cancelled.” There was also an earlier flight from Philadelphia that was cancelled as well.
One United Airlines flight to Chicago that was expected to depart from HIA tonight at 5:45 p.m. is expected to leave at 7:20 p.m.
However, the majority of flights coming in and out of HIA on Wednesday night are expected to arrive on time.
HIA spokesperson Scott Miller said that the delays and cancellations are most likely due to the weather,
“It’s not the rain,” he said. “It’s the visibility.”
Miller doesn’t expect any major problems tomorrow and said there’s no flooding at the airport. Although, he said it’s always possible that there could be delays.
