Air India’s merger with Vistara will see the absorption of over 5000 employees, as per a statement by Vistara CEO Vinod Kannan. Almost 80% of Vistara employees work in operational roles, including pilots, flight attendants, and engineers. All personnel will undergo a transition as Vistara’s aircraft merges with Air India’s fleet. Air India will have India’s largest international carrier and second-largest domestic carrier, with a combined fleet of 218 aircraft. The plan is expected to improve on-time performance, reliability, and customer service. Consumers will continue to receive the same level of service after the merger.
