Air India and Vistara have signed an interline agreement, allowing customers to have their boarding passes issued at the first point of departure for all sectors on a single ticket and to have their baggage checked-in to their final destinations. The agreement encompasses implementation of Inter Airline Through Check-in (IATCI), and “Interline Considerations on Irregular Operations” (IROPs), which enables seamless transfer of passengers to each other’s first available alternative flights in the event of operational disruptions such as cancellations, delays and diversions. The deal expands the 100-plus interline agreements and nearly 50 through check-in agreements held by Air India with partner airlines including United Airlines, Lufthansa and Singapore Airlines.
