Sisira Kanta Dash, head of engineering at Vistara, is set to become Air India’s Chief Technical Officer (Head of Engineering) in June 2021, following the departure of Arun Kashyap. The recruitment of a high-ranking official from Vistara to Air India has led to speculation of a potential merger between the two airlines, pending regulatory clearance. Air India’s CEO, Campbell Wilson, has stated that the regulatory approval process for the integration of Air India and Vistara involves three stages: competition clearance, the perspective of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), and the actual merger of the two companies. The goal is to have one full-service airline and one low-cost carrier in the merged group.
