Air passenger traffic in India saw a significant growth of 21.4% to 1.28 crore YoY. However, the Passenger Load Factor (PLF) for leading airlines like Interglobe Aviation, Spicejet, Air India, and GoFirst decreased. Air India’s market share and PLF both decreased from 8.9% to 8.8% and from 89% to 85.1% MoM, respectively. Vistara gained in terms of market share, while its PLF decreased from 92.8% to 91.6%. Indigo also saw an increase in market share from 55.9% to 56.8% MoM, but its PLF also decreased from 86.5% to 84%. On the other hand, Spicejet’s market share and PLF both decreased from 7.1% to 6.4% and from 94.1% to 92.3%, respectively. Similarly, GoFirst’s market share and PLF both decreased from 8% to 6.9% and from 93.1% to 90.2%, respectively. Despite the decrease in market share, India’s aviation sector is experiencing significant growth.
