Indian airline Vistara, a joint venture of Tata Group and Singapore Airlines, has become the first in the country to operate a commercial domestic flight using a blend of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and conventional jet fuel. The airline flew between Delhi and Mumbai using a mix of 17% SAF and 83% conventional fuel. The airline said it reduced approximately 10,000 pounds of CO2 emissions in the process. Last month, Vistara operated a long-haul international flight with a blend of 30% SAF and 70% conventional jet fuel, reducing approximately 150,000 pounds of CO2 during the flight’s life cycle. Vistara, which is India’s highest-rated airline on Skytrax and TripAdvisor and has won several awards including Best Airline in India and Southern Asia, is committed to lowering carbon emissions and supporting sustainability in the aviation industry.
