India’s full-service carrier, Vistara, has become the country’s first airline to operate a wide-body aircraft using sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) on a long-haul route. The flight from Charleston, South Carolina to Delhi was operated using a blend of 30% SAF and 70% conventional jet fuel, reducing approximately 150,000 pounds of CO₂ emissions over the fuel’s life cycle. Vistara, a joint venture with Tata Group and Singapore Airlines, hopes this initiative will encourage the aviation industry to increasingly adopt sustainable technologies. Boeing and GE Aerospace partnered with Vistara for the ground-breaking flight.
