Indian conglomerate Tata Sons Private Limited has reportedly approached the Competition Commission of India to merge Air India and Vistara, in which Tata Sons holds a 51% stake. The group announced the merger back in November 2022. Tata Sons also owns a lesser-known airline called Taj Air, which was established in 2002 and is owned by Indian Hotels Company Limited. Taj Air’s fleet consists of aircraft owned, maintained, and operated by the company itself, and its private jets can fly to over 150 airports in 56 countries. Unlike commercial airlines, Taj Air can fly to over 110 destinations in India. Taj Air also offers maintenance services for aircraft in several cities across the country. The cockpit experience of Taj Air’s pilots is 5,500 flying hours.
