Vistara, a full-service carrier and joint venture of Tata Group and Singapore Airlines, has operated a commercial domestic flight on a wide-body aircraft using sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), according to a statement. The Delhi-Mumbai flight blended 17% SAF with conventional jet fuel, resulting in approximately 10,000 pounds of CO2 emissions being reduced. This is the first time an Indian carrier has flown a commercial domestic flight on a wide-body aircraft using SAF. Vistara has also used a blend of 30% SAF and 70% conventional jet fuel on a ferry flight between Charleston International Airport and Indira Gandhi International Airport to reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 150,000 pounds. Its use of SAF is part of the airline’s ongoing efforts to reduce its carbon footprint and support a sustainable future for the aviation industry.
