Tata-owned airline Vistara has launched direct flights to Mauritius, its 15th international destination, ahead of its merger with Air India and Air Asia. The airline, which flies to 43 destinations with a 54-aircraft fleet and employs 5,100 people, has also created a new premium economy class for passengers flying to the Indian Ocean island. Pending the amalgamation, Vistara’s CEO has suggested an end to price wars between Vistara, Jet Airways, and the larger Air India, saying that they will price with profit in mind. Meanwhile, Rakesh Jhunjhunwala-backed Akasa Air plans to expand its overseas flights.
