Richard Quest recently interviewed József Váradi, CEO of Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air. They discussed a number of topics, including the airline’s new multipass service which rewards loyal passengers by allowing them to travel with Wizz Air multiple times. Váradi also discussed the challenges facing the aviation industry and how Wizz Air has invested in resilience to help mitigate the impact of things like strikes on its operations. When asked about expansion plans, Váradi hinted that the airline was looking to connect more dots between London and Abu Dhabi, its two main bases, and would increase its maximum flight time to 8 hours by 2024. Wizz Air currently has a fleet of 180 aircraft, but this number is set to grow to over 500 with the addition of 360 Airbus planes. Overall, Váradi emphasized that Wizz Air was a profitable and sustainable airline that was focused on growth.
