Russell Quirk, a property expert from Essex, has successfully received a £4,500 payout from Wizz Air after the airline cancelled his family’s holiday. Mr Quirk had initially paid £700 for the flights, but was forced to purchase last-minute fares costing £2,500 when the Wizz Air flights were cancelled. After spending seven months trying to obtain a refund and compensation, including £3,900 in consequential losses, Mr Quirk sent bailiffs to Luton Airport. “Malicious intentional disregard of the British judicial system,” is how he described the airline’s response when they failed to respond to a judgement made against them.
