Budapest Airport has marked the start of the summer season by welcoming Wizz Air’s daily service to Istanbul, the low-cost airline’s first Turkish connection from the Hungarian gateway. The service will utilise Wizz Air’s fleet of A321 Neos on the 1,017-km sector, providing Budapest with an additional 1,195 one-way weekly seats to Turkey. Turkey is Budapest’s fifth largest country market, and with the addition of the new service and the carrier’s connection to Antalya later in the season, the airport will offer over 50 weekly flights to four popular destinations in Turkey. Balázs Bogáts, Airline Development Director at Budapest Airport, stated that the airport expects high demand for Wizz Air’s service to Istanbul from both business and leisure travellers, due to the country’s importance as a trade and transportation hub between the East and West.
