Updates: Wizz Air UK Flight London Gatwick-Agadir Declares Emergency…
This is a developing story. Updates below.
UPDATE #1 @ 1808 UK time – Wizz Air flight W95759 bound for Agadir continues to cruise back northwards back in the direction of London Gatwick.
UPDATE #2 @ 1809 UK time – G-WUKX, the aircraft involved in this emergency is a 0.2 year old Airbus A321neo that was delivered to the airline back in October 2023, so a very new aircraft.
Of the A321neo variant, the UK subsidiary of the Hungarian carrier has 15 of them in the fleet, as per data from Planespotters.net.
UPDATE #3 @ 1811 UK time – At this stage, it is unclear what the nature of the emergency is, but is serious enough to force a return back to London Gatwick and not continue onwards to Agadir.
UPDATE #4 @ 1816 UK time – No rapid descent has taken place during this emergency broadcast, which indicates the ruling out of a pressurisation issue onboard the Wizz Air Airbus A321neo. Again, it’s too early to speculate at this point.
UPDATE #5 @ 1819 UK time – W95759 has stopped the use of the emergency 7700 squawk and has changed over to 5260 instead. Will continue to monitor the aircraft until it’s arrival.
UPDATE #6 @ 1824 UK time – W95759, originally bound for Agadir, has commenced it’s descent back down into London Gatwick after previously declaring an emergency over French airspace.
UPDATE #7 @ 1841 UK time – Wizz Air flight W95759 is now on final back into LGW after around an hour and a half in the air.
UPDATE #8 @ 1846 UK time – TOUCHDOWN! Wizz Air UK flight W95759 has safely touched down into London Gatwick following it’s emergency call nearly an hour ago. It is unclear whether the aircraft will continue to Agadir tonight.
