Travellers departing London Gatwick no longer need to remove electrical items or liquids from cabin bags at security, following the installation of new security scanners.
The airport this week announced that all security lanes now feature new Smiths Detection computed tomography (CT) scanners, that “simplify and streamline” the security process.
The scanners produce 3D images that permit travellers to leave liquids and electrical items, such as laptops, in their cabin bags during the screening process. Liquids can be taken through security in containers of up to 100ml in volume.
