Nineteen devices from Citilink, the subsidiary low cost of the Indonesian national carrier Garuda, continue to fly despite potentially dangerous faults in their braking systems, report Tempo Newspaper.
“In a letter from the Directorate of Airworthiness and Aircraft Operations, the Ministry of Transport warned Citilink about the status […] brake components on 19 Airbus A320 operated by Citilink. This status means that these aircraft should suspend all air operations until the components are replaced ”, specifies the daily.
The inspection team noted six problems with the brakes, four of which could be fatal: melting, jamming, overheating and damaged rotors.
Tempo Newspaper denounces this serious lack of ethics on the part of a public company which must be exemplary, and rejects the argument according to which the company would be forced to save on maintenance because of the financial difficulties caused by the pandemic of Covid-19:
