The Korea Music Copyright Association (KOMCA) has just tapped Muserk to help collect US-based mechanical rights royalties.
It’s been a long road towards recognizing and collecting mechanical royalties from streaming platforms in the United States. But now that a US-based mechanical rights collection society has been established, a global distribution system for disseminating those royalties to foreign IP owners is still being constructed.
According to details tipped to Digital Music News this week, South Korean music royalty society KOMCA has now tapped Nashville-based Muserk to help collect US-based mechanical royalties. The deal was revealed by Paul Goldman, founder and CEO of Muserk.
