Japanese start-up SmartRyde has launched a Developer Portal for API, aimed at streamlining vehicle allocation systems and inventory management methods for online travel agencies (OTAs) and airline companies. The move will enable airlines to offer airport transfer services when they book hotels and flights, potentially boosting profits. SmartRyde’s global distribution system (GDS) connects travel-related service providers across the world and allows for real-time reservations and ticket issuance. SmartRyde recently raised around JPY450m ($3.3m) in a third-party share allocation, which it intends to invest in expanding corporate functions, product development, and supporting domestic taxi operators with streamlining and cost reduction. It also wants to use its OTA network to increase inbound tourism to Japan.
