The hospitality industry is faced with the challenge of providing a relaxed, discreet, unobtrusive and unencumbered experience for guests and members, while also ensuring their safety and security. In an HFTP webinar titled “Safety Systems and Devices” recorded on April 25, 2023, a group of industry leaders gathered to discuss this challenge and offer solutions for security measures in the hospitality industry.
The panel discussed the need for a comprehensive approach to security, one that includes both physical and virtual measures. Physical security measures include things like security cameras, access control systems, and emergency response plans. Virtual security measures include cybersecurity protocols and data privacy policies.
The panel emphasized the importance of training staff in security protocols and providing ongoing education. They also discussed the need for collaboration with local law enforcement, as well as partnerships with security companies that can provide specialized equipment and expertise.
One panelist stressed the importance of preemptive response planning, suggesting that properties should conduct regular vulnerability assessments and develop response plans for a range of potential scenarios. This could include things like natural disasters, medical emergencies, or terrorist attacks.
Overall, the panel emphasized the need for a proactive approach to security in the hospitality industry. By implementing comprehensive security protocols, training staff, and collaborating with experts, properties can provide guests and members with a safe and secure experience while maintaining the relaxed and unencumbered atmosphere they desire.
