The Director of Property Technology is responsible for managing a revenue-generating function in a large property or multiple properties with a shared infrastructure. The position requires a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a similar role, a BS/BA or equivalent work experience, system-related professional certifications, previous management experience, and demonstrated matrix management skills. The Director of Property Technology manages a team of property systems managers, property systems technicians, or shared services staff. The responsibilities include managing projects and policies, meeting technology needs, forecasting and complying with financial parameters, building successful relationships, and managing and conducting human resource activities.
The position is responsible for planning and managing both new systems and system upgrades for on-site projects, performing assessments of needs, ensuring compliance with budget and standards, determining priorities, schedules, and necessary resources to ensure completion of property projects, preparing project plans, coordinating multiple-vendor projects, and verifying compliance to technology-related vendor contracts. The director is responsible for analyzing, communicating, and implementing property strategy to drive technology revenue and contribute to the property’s overall business success. The director also manages technology profit and loss, monitors and controls all technology-impacted revenues and expenses generated by the property, and verifies property management has realistically budgeted CAPEX and department operating budgets based on anticipated IT projects and property support/needs requirements.
The position is also responsible for evaluating and making recommendations regarding technology/asset life-cycles, verifying that necessary property is properly equipped, foreseeing, identifying, and resolving system(s) performance problems, certifying software applications for use at the property, creating and verifying implementation of disaster recovery and business continuity plans as they relate to technology, and verifying the property’s technology assets are secure and maintained in accordance with Marriott International policies and standards. The director possesses advanced knowledge in the areas of data communications, desktop support, and servers/networks, uses knowledge to solve 2nd level support issues, and trains/develops junior staff.
The director is expected to present proposals, analyses, projects, cost-models, etc. in a well-written and/or verbally articulate manner and to be viewed as a credible leader by subordinates, peers, and senior management. They provide exceptional customer service, communicate IR standards and best practices, and may have direct management responsibility for property-based system managers and technicians. The director is responsible for hiring, training, development, compensation, performance management of direct reports, and providing performance feedback to the Area System Manager on cluster support positions.
The salary range for this position is $89,678.00 to $158,430.00 annually and offers health care benefits, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, accrued paid time off, life insurance, disability coverage, other life and work wellness benefits, and may include incentive compensation.
