Many hotels jumped to optimize their digital practices during the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in new startups creating mobile apps that focused solely on contactless measures without holistically considering the guest journey. As a result, it is important to evaluate the guest journey of a property and offer technology that is relevant to the guests. Technology that moves into the hands of guests and provides complete journey solutions will be increasingly common. Tech trends such as the metaverse, decentralized identity, hybrid meeting solutions, and the cloud have proven to have relevant use cases in hospitality, although targeted investment is still necessary to improve their appropriateness.
