Ceros Originals was launched in 2017 with a goal of “Make cool shit” according to co-founder Simon Berg. The team of inventive designers was hired to demonstrate the storytelling capabilities of Ceros’s platform. The Originals team analyzed Seinfeld scripts, became fans of A24, created interactive content, and showed how to make engaging content on TikTok. They even visualized the inequality in the design industry. Ceros Originals was nominated for The Webby Awards and had millions of annual page views. However, Ceros Originals could not survive a significant downturn and the team, including creators Jeffrey Kurtz, Tri Vo, Alexandra Wozniczka, Simon Martin, and Tom DeVoto, was laid off. Despite this, Ceros Originals made some memorable content in their five-year run.
