MakeMyTrip, a travel firm, has extended its support to the Delhi Police by displaying all its advisories regarding the upcoming G20 Summit in Delhi. This comes after the Delhi Police flagged “false claims” made by MakeMyTrip about a “bandh” or shutdown in the national capital during the summit. The travel firm has consolidated all traffic advisories and guidelines on its website to help travelers plan better during the summit.
The Delhi Police thanked MakeMyTrip for putting up the traffic advisories on its microsite and helping disseminate the right information to make travel smooth for all in Delhi. The Police had earlier asked MakeMyTrip to retract an email claiming that Delhi was “shut” during the G20 Summit. They clarified that there will be restrictions only in the New Delhi district and that no markets will be shut, but movement will be regulated instead.
The 18th G20 Summit will be held in the national capital on September 9 and 10, 2023. This summit will be a culmination of all the G20 processes and meetings held throughout the year among ministers, senior officials, and civil societies. During the summit, establishments in the New Delhi area, including Bharat Mandapam in Pragati Maidan, will remain closed for the public. Dhaula Kuan, Khan Market, Janpath, and Bhikaji Cama Place have been designated as “sensitive areas,” but no markets will be shut, and movement will be regulated instead. Cloud kitchens and delivery services will not be allowed in the New Delhi area during the summit, but essential services like grocery stores, ATMs, and medical stores will remain open in the regulated zone.
