MakeMyTrip, India’s leading online travel company, has announced plans to expand its franchise business across the top 100+ cities in the country, aiming to grow by over 50% to reach 220 franchisees by the end of 2023. The expansion comes as India’s government plans to add another 80 airports over the next three years, taking the total number of airports in the country to 220 by 2025. MakeMyTrip is targeting entrepreneurs who share a passion for travel, with more than 85% of the company’s business partners joining from non-travel backgrounds over the past year. The company is also investing in technology and training, including proprietary tools and e-learning systems to ensure service consistency across all franchisees. Meanwhile, MakeMyTrip Holidays is working on an omnichannel strategy to increase its penetration in the holiday packages market, recently launching ‘Dynamic Itineraries’ and increasing the number of women-only Holiday Experts managing leads.
