Kanoni is a small village located in Corfu, Greece, next to the airport. The name of the village is derived from the cannons that were previously used to protect the city. Kanoni is known for its historic landmarks like the Vlacherna Monastery which is a 17th-century monastery located on its own island that is connected to the harbor by a narrow pier. From there, tourists can take a boat to the nearby 13th-century church of Pantokrator located on Mouse Island. Kanoni offers an excellent view of the surroundings, with tree-carpeted cliffside looking over rocky beaches that attract snorkelers. The rugged hillside is peppered with vantage points that offer sweeping views of the sea. Kanoni’s proximity to Corfu Town, which is a 10-minute drive away, adds to its laidback vibe. Corfu Town is also a UNESCO-protected old quarter that is spread out with Venetian charm. Tourists can enjoy a wander through the narrow, paved streets that are sprinkled with cafes, bars, and tiny shops. There are many historic sites within Corfu Town, including the Old Fortress and Saint Spirydon Church with its red-domed bell tower.
