Three months after the deadline, Bangladesh’s first tourism master plan has yet to be formulated. Officials had promised to complete the plan in December 2022, with implementation expected to help bring a new era to the country’s tourism sector. Although a draft of the master plan is already available, its finalization awaits stakeholders’ approval. Some industry professionals have urged the government to expedite the process, highlighting the importance of addressing issues like visa complications and implementing timely development plans. The country’s tourism minister has responded, saying that the master plan would be implemented soon, adding it could contribute as much as 10% to GDP.
