Bangladesh’s tourism master plan, which was expected to be completed by December 2022, has not been formulated yet, three months after the deadline. While the draft of the master plan is said to be ready, stakeholders have not yet given their approval. Various industry experts have urged the government to finalize the master plan soon and address issues such as visa complications. President of the Tour Operators Association of Bangladesh, Shiblul Azam Koreshi, called for better inter-ministerial coordination, while Secretary General of Pacific Asia Travel Association, Taufiq Rahman, also highlighted the need for better coordination among government agencies. The State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism has assured that stakeholders’ feedback is being taken into consideration and once adjusted, the master plan will be implemented soon. The master plan’s development began on January 1, 2020, and was contracted to the international consulting firm IPE Global for approximately Tk28.66 crore.
