The three-day Mujib’s Bangladesh Food Festival opened on May 4 in Dhaka’s Banani field, showcasing traditional local foods and dishes from five-star hotels as well. Sparking a great deal of interest was Moong Dal Poppadom, a traditional food item of Dinajpur district. Many visitors gathered at the stall to eat it, and the saleswoman struggled to keep up with the demand. The event was organised by Bangladesh Tourism Board and the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, under the brand of “Mujib’s Bangladesh”, in honour of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The festival aims to promote Bangladesh as a tourism destination with a vibrant culture and heritage. The event featured 43 renowned food stalls offering Haji Biryani, Dhakai Bakarkhani, Cumilla’s Rasmalai, Bogura’s Curd, Satkhira’s Para Sandesh, Khulna’s Chui Jhal, Bagerhat’s Prawn, and Kushtia’s Kulfi.
