The 32nd Southeast Asian Games will be hosted in Cambodia for the first time and will take place from May 6 to May 17. Over 11,000 athletes, coaches, and delegates from 11 countries will participate in the event. The games will feature a range of competitions, including athletics, swimming, badminton, football, and Kun Bokator, an ancient Cambodian martial art. Notable athletes expected to participate include pole-vaulter Ernest John Obiena and weightlifter Vanessa Sarno from the Philippines, but Hidilyn Diaz, a Tokyo Olympic gold medalist from the Philippines, will not compete. The Games will be held at the Morodok Techo National Stadium, a new stadium built and paid for by China, which has been valued at $160 million. This event is intended to showcase Cambodia’s stability and promote tourism.
