Chitwan, a popular tourist destination in Nepal, is set to become a paragliding destination from April 2023. While Pokhara has long been considered the most attractive paragliding destination in Nepal, a new international airport has virtually closed the activity there. Chitwan is now poised to become the next most favored destination for paragliding, and the opportunity will be launched on the occasion of Nepali New Year. The paragliders will take off from Chaukidanda and Kabilas of Bharatpur metropolitan city and land on the bank of the Trishuli river in Devghat of the neighboring Tanahun district. The Himalayan Frontiers Paragliding Company has invested Rs 700 million to develop Chitwan as a paragliding destination and will be recruiting 10 paragliding pilots in the first phase. Test flights have already been successful, and the company believes that paragliding will add an attractive tourism package to Chitwan.
