The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) has organised a three-day workshop for member states from Asia and the Pacific to help them measure and manage their tourism sectors. The workshop discussed topics such as measuring the sustainability of tourism, tourism statistics and measuring the economic impact of tourism, with interactive training sessions to exchange good practices. The event was attended by around 200 participants from nine member states, including high-level representatives from national tourism administrations and national statistical offices. The workshop highlighted the need for national and international cooperation to generate reliable data for the economic, social and environmental aspects of tourism for sustainable development.
