The PATA Annual Summit and Mart 23 will take place in Pokhara, Nepal from May 29 to June 1. The event is co-organised by the Government of Nepal, the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), and PATA. This is the first time that the summit is held in Pokhara since Nepal received its international membership in 1975. The event is expected to be a milestone in the Nepalese tourism sector, especially in the Pokhara and Gandaki Province. The tourism industry in Nepal is recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic and this event provides an opportunity for Nepali and international tourism entrepreneurs to meet and share experiences. Around 300 representatives from 15 countries and the PATA executive board member are expected to participate, and a range of issues related to sustainable tourism, crisis management, aviation safety, adventure and mountain tourism will be discussed. The event is the third Adventure Mart to be hosted by Nepal and the first summit to take place in the country. The NTB has formed a main organising committee for the event under the chairmanship of the NTB chairperson, with other tourism-related organisations as members. The Mayor of Pokhara Metropolitan City pledged to provide the required assistance for the event. The Nepal tourism industry is expected to return to its pre-COVID levels by the end of 2023 with an increase in tourist inflow.
