Renowned tourism entrepreneur Basanta Mishra passed away on Sunday morning at the age of 71. He had been undergoing treatment at Norvic Hospital, Thapathali, after contracting dengue.
His body was taken from the hospital to his residence in Kupondole, and the funeral took place at Aryaghat in the afternoon, according to family members.
Mishra was one of the key figures behind the establishment of Nepal Tourism Board to elevate the tourism sector. Also the chairman of the Temple Tiger Group of Companies, he had been actively involved in the sector since the 1970s, playing a key role in promoting Nepal’s tourism on the international stage.
