Over 1.2 million pilgrims annually visit the Catholic village of Mariamabad in Pakistan’s Punjab province. In order to help the local economy, the government has decided on a plan that should further stimulate the activity of the most important Marian shrine in the country.
In the Catholic village of Mariamabad, the Christian community has been jubilant since the governor of the Punjab, Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar, ordered the acceleration of the construction of a 4.1 km road between Sheikhupura district and their village.
