Head Coach Andy Farrell has today named a 35-player Ireland Men’s squad for the upcoming Summer Tour to South Africa. Peter O’Mahony has been named as Captain.
The squad will assemble at the IRFU High-Performance Centre in Dublin on Thursday to begin preparations for the two-match Test Series against the Springboks. They will depart for Johannesburg on Tuesday, June 25.
That is a tight turnaround for players likely to be still smarting from their URC exit last weekend or their Champions Cup defeat, in the case of the Leinster players, but that’s elite sport.
Jamison Gibson Park, with a hamstring injury, and Jack Conan, for personal reasons, are among the regulars who will not travel.
