In a significant boost to Thailand’s tourism industry, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and Trip.com Group, the leading online travel agency, partnered to host a live-streaming event on January 31, 2024, that amassed over 100 million Baht in sales in a single day. The event, aptly named “Super World Tour BOSS LIVE,” was a part of the “Thailand – A Must for Chinese” campaign and was a roaring success, attracting an audience of over 20 million viewers.
A Gateway to Thailand’s Rich Heritage and Scenic Beauty
The event was a showcase of Thailand’s rich cultural experiences, picturesque islands, and exquisite culinary delights. It also featured an array of travel deals specifically aimed at Chinese tourists. These included discounted airfares, special accommodation rates, and enticing tour packages. The live-streaming event, broadcast from Bangkok, demonstrated Thailand’s appeal as a prime travel destination.
Distinguished Figures Amplify Event’s Significance
Adding gravitas to the event were the presence of respected figures such as Ms. Sun Tianxu, Vice President of Trip.com Group, the Thai Minister of Tourism and Sports, Ms. Sudawan Wangsuphakijkosol, and TAT Governor, Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool. Their presence underscored the event’s significance in promoting Thailand’s tourism industry. The Governor of TAT expressed optimism that such initiatives would stimulate Chinese tourists’ travel to Thailand and reinforce the country’s image as a top-tier travel destination.
Forthcoming Session in Phuket
Building on the success of the Bangkok live-stream, the next session of this series is scheduled to take place in Phuket on February 28, 2024. Trip.com Group’s data indicates that Thailand, particularly Bangkok, Phuket, and Chiang Mai, emerged as a preferred destination for Chinese tourists in 2023, registering a substantial increase in bookings compared to 2022. These cities are expected to maintain their popularity among tourists in 2024, further bolstering Thailand’s tourism sector.
