NEW HAVEN — Avelo Airlines begins flying nonstop from Tweed New Haven Regional Airport to four new non-Florida destinations this week, with flights to Charleston, S.C. (CHS) and Myrtle Beach, S.C. (MYR) beginning today and flights to Nashville (BNA) and Savannah, Ga., (SAV) beginning Friday.
The new destinations bring Avelo’s total number of active destinations from Tweed to 10 as the year-old startup airline marks six months of service to and from Tweed.
That number will grow to 14 by the the end of June, with four additional destinations coming online in the coming weeks. Flights to Chicago’s Midway International Airport (MDW), Baltimore Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) and Raleigh-Durham, N.C. (RDU) all begin May 26; flights to Wilmington, N.C. (ILM) begin June 30.
Avelo also flies nonstop to six Florida destinations that it has served from Tweed since November: Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Fort Myers (RSW), Orlando (MCO), Sarasota/Bradenton (SRQ), Tampa (TPA) and West Palm Beach (PBI). It announced last week that it is increasing the frequency of flights to Orlando.
Beginning today, Avelo is offering special introductory fares of $49 for one-way flights between Tweed (HVN) and Charleston, Myrtle Beach, Nashville and Savannah, the airline said in a release. The fares are available at AveloAir.com.
