Hong Kong-based carrier Cathay Pacific has restructured its economy fare into three levels—Light, Essential and Flex, the carrier announced. The new levels apply on flights departing from markets other than Hong Kong, according to a company spokesperson.
The carrier also began rolling out the new fares by region in September 2021, officially launching for U.S. and Canadian departures Feb. 8.
The Light level includes one piece of checked luggage, and customers can pay for additional luggage as well as seat pre-selection after the booking is made. The Essential level allows for two checked bags, free seat pre-selection and the option to upgrade using Cathay’s Asia Miles loyalty program. The Flex level adds free seat pre-selection for extra legroom, free flight changes and free same-day earlier flight changes.
All three categories allow for one piece of carry-on baggage and the ability to earn Marco Polo Club points and Asia Miles.
