Etihad Airways has received Stage 2 accreditation from the International Air Transportation Association for its Environmental Assessment program, the carrier announced Tuesday. The airline received the accreditation in four operational areas: facilities management, flight operations, its technical division and for catering services.
The IATA program is voluntary and aims to independently assess and improve airlines’ environmental management. Stage 2 represents the highest level of the program’s compliance and requires an airline to demonstrate ongoing environmental performance improvement.
Etihad has committed to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 and halving its 2019 emission levels by 2035.
