Alumnus Pablo Segarra ’09, a former New York City Police Department (NYPD) police officer, lawyer, and now entrepreneur, is living his ultimate dream. From his home in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, Segarra is preparing to host the first-ever Latinx Travel Summit in Miami later this year where he’s bringing Latinx creators and thought leaders working in the fields of travel, technology, digital media, music, and film together. “My hope is that the Latinx Travel Summit, which caps off Hispanic Heritage Month, helps shine a light on Latinx voices and Latinx stories that are so often ignored,” he says, explaining that his desire to amplify the underrepresented came out of his work in public service for the City of New York. “I always dreamt of helping out the community, especially underrepresented communities,” says the alumnus who is of Puerto Rican descent. “I was able to do that throughout my career in very different ways.
