Like Thanos, Kang the Conqueror has a long and varied history in Marvel Comics. First appearing in issue 8 of Avengers in 1964, Kang was originally introduced as Nathaniel Richards, a scientist from the 31st Century and a descendant of Reed Richards of the Fantastic Four.
