the US Treasury Department blames North Korean hacker outfit Lazarus for stealing $625 million in bitcoin from the Ronin network, the blockchain that underpins the Axie Infinity play-to-earn crypto game. The US Treasury Department upgraded sanctions on Thursday to include the wallet address that received the payments and linked it to the Lazarus gang.
The Ronin network, which is owned by development firm Sky Mavis, says in an updated article about the event that the US Department of Treasury and FBI have blamed the attack on Lazarus. “We’re still working on implementing further security measures before redeploying the Ronin Bridge to reduce future danger.”
