Matiu Pritchard was visiting his home in Christchurch after five years living in Australia when he was denied entry to an ice cream shop and bar due to his Australian vaccine pass and licence.
A Kiwi man, who lives across the ditch, had a highly recommended “Superman Choc” gelato in mind when he reached the front of the queue at a popular Christchurch store recently – only to be told he couldn’t be served because of his Australian vaccine pass.
Matiu Pritchard was out for dinner with his family on Sunday during his two-week visit to New Zealand, and was hoping for a sweet treat when he was denied service at Rollickin Gelato on Cashel St.
His Australian vaccine pass showed he was double-vaxxed against Covid-19 with the Moderna Spikevax vaccine.
“When the lady [saw] it, she just said that they can’t accept that and that I cannot be served,” he said.
